Best Sneakers for Wide Feet
If the universe has blessed you with boxed shaped feet, there’s just some sneakers that are not going to fit. Try as you might, take it from me, those Vapormax won’t stretch out enough to ever be comfortable and trust me, I've tried!
Before you succumb for a collection of Air Monarchs, just know that there are some sneakers that do work well for wide feet! I've tried out a wide (pun intended) range of sneakers and taken a few L's along the way to find out firsthand some of the best sneakers for wide feet.
Nike Air Force 1’s
Nelly was definitely onto something when he wrote Air For Ones. Give me two pairs? More like 20 if you have wide feet. This is an iconic Nike style always getting released in new colorways.
White Air Force 1’s will always be a classic but you can't go wrong with any design. For the most comfortable fit, avoid the high and mid styles and stick to the Air Force 1 lows.
Fila Disrupter 2
You can tell just by looking at the Fila Disrupter 2 that it’s going to be a wider fit. The most common word used to describe the style of this shoe is “chunky.” This word also happens to be my nickname so I guess it’s no wonder my closet is full of Disrupters in different colors.
What makes these one of the best sneakers for wide feet? You pretty much can slip them on without an untying them even with wide feet! From polka dot to tie dye, these are definitely a sneaker that makes a statement.
Nike Air More Uptempo
If you would’ve told me that Scottie Pippen’s basketball shoes would be one of my favorite styles, I would’ve called you a liar. But here I am obsessed with the Air More Uptempo. When you put these on, you can expect an elastic at the tongue that makes these easy to slip on.
I wear Uptempos to walk around Disneyworld all day. This alone should tell you something about how comfortable these sneakers are for wide feet.
Adidas Superstar
Before I knew anything about sneakers and long before I became a collector, I owned exactly one pair of sneakers - the Adidas Superstar. This classic shell toe style not only goes with everything from skirts to leggings but they are also comfortable for wide feet.
Arguably the least chunky and most understated style on this list, Superstars are beyond versatile. If you don't know where you start your sneaker collection, you can't go wrong with this classic.
Nike Air Max 90 Flyease
I love Air Max 90, 95 and 97 but they don’t always love me back. I have struggled to get my foot into each of these iconic styles. When I found out about the new Nike Air Max 90 Flyease, I hit add to cart SO fast. The premise of these sneakers is simple. They have the look and feel of the Air Max 90 with a collapsible heel that snaps back into place.
For any of my fellow wide foot babes tired of unlacing a shoe completely then still struggling to get it on, the Flyease is for you! You can give your slides a break and slip a pair of Flyease on instead.
Nike Waffle Racer
My fellow Thick Laces contributor, Crys LaJoy recommends the Nike Waffle Racer. Crys says, “As if colorway isn’t fresh enough! The Waffle Racer screams comfort for my wide feet! And they’re super lightweight.
"They are perfect for my funky style and I can pair them with so many different pieces in my closet! It’s so hard finding shoes that I don’t have to go a size up on due to the width! I’m excited to grab more colors!”
Having wide feet can make shopping for sneakers a challenge but it’s certainly not impossible. If a sneaker looks narrow, it probably is but don’t feel like you have to be confined to designated wide width sneakers. Look for chunkier styles or fits advertising comfort or ease of wear.
